London Marathon 2017
On Sunday 23rd April 3 of the Oxford Shooting Stars will take to the streets of London in an effort to cover 26.2 miles.
Peter Smith (Head Coach), Kat Smith (Team Manager) & Matty Davies (Social Secretary) will be running in order to raise some funding for charities close to their hearts.
Peter & Kat are putting in a joint effort for Sobell House this year. We spoke with Kat earlier and she explained why, "I'm running the London Marathon in memory of my Dad who passed away 11 years ago and I'm fundraising for the local charity who provided good and comfortable end of life care for him, Sobell House. They made a massive difference to us as well as to him and continue to do so for other people who rely on their service. It's a charity very close to my heart."
Matty Davies is running to raise funds for 2 very special charities, Special Effect & KEEN Oxford.
We had a chat with Matty to find out more, "I'm doing this for two great charities that I have found out about through ice hockey. One of them is the chosen charity for the Oxford City Stars, Special Effect who create computer games for young people and adults with disabilities to be able to play. They work with technologies such as using eye movement. The 2nd charity I'm raising funds for is KEEN Oxford - The partnered charity of the Oxford Shooting Stars, who offer sporting and social activities for young people and adults with learning difficulties/disabilities."
26.2 miles by 3 individuals for 3 very special charities.

Good luck Pete, Kat & Matty. We'll see you at the finish.
